Strengthening Industry partnerships is a priority for both Schools and Universities. Students of all ages benefit significantly from making connections between their learning and the workplace.
On a cold and windy morning in late August, In2science mentors gained valuable advice on planning a career in STEM, resumé preparation and interview tips at a workshop hosted by Ericsson.

Mentors were enthralled by Ericsson Head of Commercial Management, Lewis Fricker and his passion for the history and development of the global technology powerhouse that Ericsson is today. Mentors used the opportunity to ask about the technology that Ericsson develops that will be central to driving innovation in sectors as diverse as mining, healthcare and transport.
Head of Project Office, Bridget Krott followed up with an overview of Ericsson’s Graduate Program, outlining the application process, as well as the opportunities that Ericsson recruits receive to work in different areas of the business. Bridget emphasised the critical importance of soft skills like communication, team work and interpersonal skills in the final selection process, a skill set that mentors gain from participation in In2science. Vanessa Ashokkumar and Kunal Shah, recent participants in the graduate program, highlighted the many professional and personal development opportunities available, including the chance to shape company policies around, for example, diversity and inclusion.
After the presentations, mentors broke into small groups to chat with Ericsson line managers and executives to discuss tips for interviews as well as providing further opportunity for mentors to ask about the Ericsson workplace culture and graduate program.

The workshop concluded with morning tea, providing mentors and Ericsson staff to mingle and chat about career paths, technology and life at Ericsson.
